BIOGRAPHY

Gabriel Marling Rideout was born in London and grew up in Stockholm.  He started dancing at 8 years old at the Culture Institute of Stockholm which put him on the dancing path. Gabriel is born to acting parents and has been surrounded by performing arts his entire life which has encouraged him to pursue a career in a similar field. ​

After being properly introduced to contemporary and modern dance through his high school education at Södra Latin the desire for further training was ignited and in 2019 Gabriel moved to Reykjavik to start his studies at The Icelandic University of Arts (Listaháskóli Íslands).  He graduated from university in 2022.

Since earning himself a BFA in contemporary dance and choreography he has worked as a freelance dancer, performer and creator both in- and outside of Iceland through various types of projects and with collaborators from many different fields and artistic backgrounds.

Gabriel's work is often based in story-telling with an intention in visual as well as emotional narratives. He enjoys working with references drawn from literature, cinematography, music, etc and plays with different levels of transparency and communication with his audience. His work is always looked on through a queer perspective and are a part of an ongoing exploration of themes such as queerness, sexuality, gender expression and queer stories being told on stage.
